About PEP-C

Vision Statement:

PEP-C will maintain robust partnerships with state and local agencies, expand the Prepared Partner business program, facilitate community support teams including a flotilla, and continue to increase community awareness and broaden access to emergency preparedness training and information.

Mission Statement:

PEP-C is a non‐profit corporation organized under the Corporations and Associations (Nonprofit) Law of Washington (Title 24 RCW) and is not organized for the private gain of any person. The PEP-C purpose is to:

  1. Develop public awareness of the urgent need for preparedness in the event of a major emergency or large-scale disaster affecting the PEP-C geographical focus area.

  2. Encourage residents within the PEP-C geographical focus area to be self-sufficient for at least a minimum of thirty days, with consideration for being self-sufficient for even longer periods, if necessary.

  3. Help local communities within the PEP-C geographical focus area prepare for large scale emergencies and major disasters. These disasters include large scale earthquakes, wildfires, floods, major storms, nuclear and conventional explosions and other disruptive, large-scale events.

  4. Provide information, training, and where practicable, assist with acquiring materials and equipment to help communities, neighborhoods and residents be prepared.

Who we are:

Founded in 1993, the Peninsula Emergency Preparedness Coalition (PEP-C) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping the communities of Gig Harbor, Fox Island, and the Key Peninsula with the knowledge and tools needed to prepare for emergencies and major disasters.

Recognizing the unique challenges posed by geographic isolation and vulnerable infrastructure in this area, PEP-C focuses on raising public awareness about the importance of preparedness and empowering residents to ensure self-sufficiency for at least 21 days. We also provide resources, training, and volunteer opportunities to strengthen individual, family, and neighborhood readiness.

PEP-C’s mission includes creating “Community Support Teams” of vetted volunteers to assist during widespread disruptions, as well as encouraging organizations to become Prepared Partners to promote collective community preparedness. By collaborating with local, county, and state emergency operations, PEP-C plays a vital role in fostering resilience and readiness throughout the region.

With a focus on increasing public awareness, preparing homes and businesses, and mobilizing community support, PEP-C is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its neighbors in the face of potential disasters.
